Who are we? 

Sawtooth Software is a leading provider of software tools for the marketing research industry. Our software is used in analytics research with a specialization in choice analytics. Hundreds of well-known companies around the world (Microsoft, P&G, 3M, Comcast, etc.) use our software for product development, pricing research, and market simulations. 

Who are we looking for? 

We are seeking a part-time Quality Assurance Tester who is curious, self-motivated, and passionate about creating trusted and friendly software to join our development team. As a tester, you will work alongside developers and designers to continuously verify the quality and accuracy of our desktop software platform. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, some coding experience, a desire to learn about analytics, and the ability to work closely with a team. 

Must have availability to work 20-30 hours a week. While part-timers can have more flexible schedules, work hours are expected to be during our normal business hours, between 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time. This position requires working in our Utah office or locally at home on a hybrid schedule, with the ability to be in the office when necessary. 

Responsibilities: 

• Execute testing procedures to ensure that software meets established quality standards 

• Conduct thorough manual black-box testing on new and existing features of our desktop platform, with future opportunities to do white-box testing. 

• Create, update, and code new automated tests 

• Write clear and concise bug reports to communicate issues to the development team 

• Collaborate with the development team to reproduce and resolve issues 

• Work independently to prioritize and manage your testing tasks 

• Participate in the software development life cycle, including gathering requirements, design, testing, and release 

• Prepare data sets to test logic, error handling, and system workflows 

• Other duties as assigned to deliver well-tested software to the customer 

Requirements: 

• Excellent attention to detail 

• Strong problem-solving, creative thinking, and analytical skills 

• Great written and verbal communication skills  

• Familiarity with CI/CD or Agile development is preferred 

• Average 20- to 30-hour work weeks  

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a background check
