Job Title: Mid Functional Test Engineer

As a Mid QA for our Managed Services clients, you will work in cross-functional, innovative, agile-tech teams to ensure quality is consistent throughout the development process. You will play a key role in planning and executing test phases while being an integral part of a QA team to ensure successful project outcomes. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to unify testing practices across teams and leave a lasting mark on our technology stack.   

Your activities will include:

• Own Data Integrity: Become the team's expert on data validation. You will design, code, and execute complex SQL queries against our Staging and Highway databases to ensure 100% data accuracy throughout the entire ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process.  

• Automation: Identify critical regression scenarios from functional test cases and automate them using JavaScript and Playwright. You will design, code, and maintain reusable scripts and libraries to maximize efficiency.  

• Data Integrity Validation: Take responsibility for data validation by writing and executing complex SQL queries against our Staging and Highway databases to ensure 100% data integrity throughout the ETL process.   

• API Testing: Test the REST APIs that form the backbone of our integrations between Highway, Snap, and Unit4, using tools like Postman to validate JSON/XML data flows and ensure system interoperability  

• Performance Testing Contribution: Leverage your experience with tools like Apache JMeter or K6 to contribute to our critical load and stress testing efforts, helping us validate that our systems can handle the projected 188% increase in workload.  

• Collaboration & Troubleshooting: Work closely with development, business, and database teams to troubleshoot complex technical scenarios and perform deep root cause analysis on defects.  

• Generate High-Quality Test Data: Create and manage suitable test data sets to validate complex business rules and financial calculations, ensuring we can expose critical defects early.  

• Documentation: Utilize your exceptional communication skills to create clear, concise release notes and documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.  

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in quality assurance, with a strong focus on test automation and data-intensive systems.  

• Proficiency in SQL and a proven ability to validate data within complex relational databases.  

• Strong programming skills in at least one object-oriented language, with a preference for JS  

• Demonstrable experience building and maintaining front-end automation test suites with modern tools like Playwright.  

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Gitlab, or Github and version control systems like Git.  

• A deep understanding of Agile methodologies and a track record of thriving in fast-paced Agile environments.  

• Exceptional problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the QA mindset to perform root cause analysis.  

Bonus Points: What Will Make You Stand Out   

• Experience with large-scale data migration and ETL testing.  

• Previous experience testing financial management systems or working in the insurance/financial services industry.  

• Experience with performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter or K6.
