About this role:

The Junior QA Engineer will report to the QA Team lead. You will have the responsibility for proving quality across the full range of ding’s top-up products and mobile operator interfaces. Working closely with the development team, you will have exposure to an online transaction processing system, web UI, mobile application, API, and database testing. You’ll help to improve the quality of production releases through manual testing and gain exposure to our QA automation frameworks. You will also be using advanced technologies in our Cloud infrastructures. Working across different teams, you will engage with Product Managers and Business Analysts helping to develop specifications with a user-first approach. Soft skills such as good communication and the ability to determine whether a software release should proceed are also important. As the technology team has transformed from Agile Scrum to Lean Kanban, you’ll be joining at a really interesting time of evolving autonomous teams, making independent decisions, and having a full say in how and when work is delivered. 

What we need you to do:

  • Strong communication skills.  Protect and encourage quality from the beginning through user spec reviews and the capture, prioritization, and escalation of issues.
  • With a user-first approach and unique knowledge of the systems, I work closely with product managers and the development team to produce the best features and functionality to increase Ding’s success. 
  • Using Lean Kanban methodologies to make autonomous decisions and release more frequently.
  • Contribute to acceptance and regression testing efforts
  • Running automated tests, monitoring results for regression purposes
  • Monitoring logs and deciding when there is a problem during the testing process; investigating possible bugs
  • Reporting accurate bugs following the team standards
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the high dependency multi-tiered architecture
  • Good experience with testing front-end web and mobile applications, focusing on implementation being accurate to product specifications.
  • Champion excellent quality within the team; push high standards in all aspects of development
  • Work with Automation engineers to ensure use cases are covered in automation.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Kanban methodologies the teams within Ding use
  • Have a passion for quality and customer experience journeys while meeting challenging deadlines.

 What we are looking for:

Required Skills 

  • 1-2 years' experience in a software testing role  
  • Strong experience testing front-end applications. 
  • Write accurate bug reports in Gherkin format.
  • Ability to speak up for best quality practices across the team.
  • Exposure to a fast-paced environment, managing frequent release cycles 
  • Solid experience of product and testing tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, TestRail, etc. 
  • Strong communication skills.  

 Desired requirements  

  • Experience with automation frameworks (Selenium, Appium, Jmeter)
  • Ability to interrogate databases using SQL. 
  • Ability to test APIs. 
  • Experience gained in an online transaction processing environment. 
  • Experience testing across high dependency multi-tiered applications.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related
